Patients who undergo surgical procedures on the arm—particularly those related to vascular access for kidney dialysis—are often required to avoid placing pressure on the affected limb during sleep. One common procedure is the creation of an arteriovenous (AV) fistula or AV graft, which provides a reliable access point for hemodialysis. After this surgery, the arm becomes medically sensitive, and maintaining proper protection is essential for healing and long‑term function.
Despite medical instructions, many individuals unintentionally roll onto the operated arm during sleep. Natural nighttime movement makes it difficult to maintain safe positioning, especially for patients who habitually sleep on their side or stomach. Accidental pressure on the surgical site can interfere with circulation, disrupt healing, or contribute to complications that require clinical intervention.
